Yotaro et Mari-chan, dans leur formal school uniform. Ils ont reussi leur examen d’entrée pour une très bonne école maternelle, une Yochien ce qui leur promet un entrée par la suite dans les meilleur lycées de Tokyo, les Chugakko puis l’université. Une chance car la plupart des écoliers japonais doivent suivre des cours particuliers intensifs samedi et jours fériés durant le collège pour espérer suivre le même chemin.

They already passed thru the entrance exam for a very good primary school, a Yochien, which allowed them to enter one of the best high-school of Tokyo, a Chugako, the best way to graduate for uni. They don’t have to go every saturday and public holiday day to intensive extra lesson as some others student has to go. Smart cookies here.

Tokyo from our place in Minato-ku. One year ago yesterday, Naoko Nishizu and I were organising Magnitude 9, a photo-exhibition in Sydney about Japan and fundraising money after the earthquake. The ground is still shaking here on a weekly basis and I’m happy to know that little things we did helps out a bit ! Nihon Ichiban
